Abstract

This Fresh Focus commentary describes the author's grassroots perspective on and advocacy efforts to bring about change within the mental health system in Uganda. The essay draws on personal narrative, first-hand description of human rights violations, grassroots efforts to bring about change through legal advocacy and development of peer support and service user leadership initiatives, and ultimately charts a course for deeper change.
