Abstract
BACKGROUND: Suicide rates have been increasing for decades, and the challenges of a global pandemic seem to have worsened suicide risk factors. The relationship between suicidality, COVID-19 risk perceptions, and guideline adherence was examined to inform potential barriers to the implementation of behavioral interventions aimed at preventing future pandemics.Entities:

Note. Any sample size deviations are a result of missing data. The ranges above are those observed in the sample. The p-values column signals statistically significant relationships resulting from the bivariate correlations or independent samples t-tests.
Essential worker status was associated with suicidality (t(157) = 5.279, p < .001, Cohen's d = 0.808), attending large gatherings (t(157) = 3.625, p < .001, Cohen's d = 0.570), and hypothetical self-quarantine (t(157) = −2.347, p = .022, Cohen's d = −0.373).
Age was associated with handwashing (r = 0.172, p = .030) and attending large gatherings (r = −0.203, p = .010); its association with SIDAS approached significance (r = −0.153, p = .055).
Linear regressions of suicidality, perceived risks, and adherence indicators.
