Dear Editor,

PARENTAL WILLINGNESS TO VACCINATE AGAINST COVID‐19

We would like to share our ideas on the publication ‘Parental gender differences in 5 attitudes and willingness to vaccinate against COVID‐19. ’ Goldman and Ceballo mentioned that ‘Unique differences between mothers and fathers …. information for parents about a COVID‐19 vaccine for children. ’ We agree that parental attitude is an important determinant of success in COVID‐19 mass vaccination for children. In the present study, several factors are identified, including gender and age of parent. However, attitudes of parents also depend on the local available information and COVID‐19 vaccines. In many settings, the parents might trust one type of vaccine, but not other types. For example, in a recent survey from our setting in tropical Asia, parents usually prefer the new COVID‐19 vaccine with reported higher efficacy than inactivated COVID‐19 vaccine (https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand/general/2263451/most‐parentshold‐dim‐view‐of‐online‐learning‐covid‐jabs‐for‐kids‐poll). Therefore, willingness to have their children vaccinated might also depend on the type of vaccine. Finally, in a recent real‐world report, the vaccination site should be easy to access. A major obstacle for mass vaccination for children is parents' difficulty bringing their children to get the vaccine.
