Abstract
BACKGROUND: Acute kidney disease (AKD) is a proposed definition for acute kidney injury (AKI) lasting 7 days or longer. Little has been reported regarding characteristics of patients with AKD and their short- and long-term outcomes. We describe the epidemiology and risk factors for AKD and outcomes following AKD.Entities:

For APACHE II calculations, data was unavailable for 112 patients – only 2035 patients used in these calculations (Survival to day 7 = 1583; non-survivors = 452).
Univariable and multivariable analyses of risk factors for progression to AKD. Progression to stage 3 injury was not included as its effect was so significant that the effect of other variables was masked.
