MHC1, major histocompatibility complex 1; TCR, T‐cell receptor.
Figure 1Muscle biopsy findings. Trichrome‐stained frozen sections (A, C, E, and F) and MHC1‐reacted sections (B and D) from patients with SLONM (A, B, and E) and patients with congenital nemaline myopathy (C, D, and F). In SLONM patients, increased MHC1 reactivity was present in fibers containing nemaline rods as well as adjacent nonatrophic fibers (B), whereas fibers containing nemaline rods from patients with congenital nemaline myopathy did not display increased MHC1 reactivity (D). In SLONM, nemaline rods tend to accumulate in atrophic fibers (A and E) with marked rarefaction of the myofibrils. Whereas in congenital nemaline myopathies, nemaline rods occur in nonatrophic fibers and occur subsarcolemmally (F) or scattered throughout the sarcoplasm (C). Scale bar: 50 μm. MHC1, major histocompatibility complex 1; SLONM, sporadic late‐onset nemaline myopathy. [Colour figure can be viewed at wileyonlinelibrary.com]
