Abstract
BACKGROUND: In South Korea, the epidemiological characteristics of children and adolescents infected with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) have not been reported to date. The purpose of this study was to identify major epidemiological characteristics and transmission patterns of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in children and adolescents.Entities:

Notes: †Number of patients with laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 per 100,000 persons using 2020 Korea Census population estimates. §COVID-19 patients in isolation being treated with high-flow oxygen therapy, mechanical ventilation, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT). *p-values obtained by comparing the groups using the chi-square test or Fisher’s exact test.
