Abstract
OBJECTIVES: Hepatectomy is used to treat several liver diseases, although perioperative mortality and postoperative complication rates remain high. Given the lack of relevant studies to date, the present study aimed to investigate potential predictive factors for postoperative complications in patients undergoing hepatectomies lasting 12 or more hours (termed "extremely long hepatectomies").Entities:

The Major Complications Group was composed of patients with Clavien–Dindo Grade III or more. BMI: Body mass index, DM: Diabetes mellitus, ASA PS: American Society of Anesthesiologists Physical Status, ICGR15: Indocyanine green retention rate at 15 min, ICU: Intensive care unit, Redo hepatectomy: Second and subsequent hepatectomy, Blood flow occlusion: Any inflow occlusion technique performed to reduce bleeding during surgery. Posthepatectomy liver failure was defined as International Study Group of Liver Surgery (ISGLS) grade B or C.
