p-values compare the variables across the 3 pathways. For continuous variables, we use the ANOVA test, which tests the null hypothesis that the means in pathways 1, 2, and 3 are of equal size. For categorical variables, we use the chi-square test, which tests the null hypothesis that the 2 categorical variables are independent of each other. p-values below 0.05 reject the null hypothesis.
