Abstract
BACKGROUND: glucagon secretion and inhibition should be mainly determined by glucose and insulin levels, but the relative relevance of each factor is not clarified, especially following ingestion of different macronutrients. We aimed to investigate the associations between plasma glucagon, glucose, and insulin after ingestion of single macronutrients or mixed-meal.Entities:

Fasting values, area under the curve (300 min), and related suprabasal component (AUC and ΔAUC, respectively) for plasma glucagon, glucose, insulin, and C-peptide, after ingestion of a mixed meal or single macronutrients in a cohort of 36 subjects (18 subjects with normal glucose tolerance and 18 subjects with type 2 diabetes). Data are mean ± SE.
