Demographics and comparison between benign and malignant
Values are presented as number (%) or mean ± standard deviation.
ASA, American Society of Anesthesiologists; PS, physical status; APBDU, anomalous pancreaticobiliary duct union; CC, choledochal cyst; CD, Clavien-Dindo.
Fig. 1Laparoscopic surgery began in the early 2000s, but open surgery was dominant until 2013. Nonetheless, robotic surgery was performed after that, and only robotic and laparoscopic surgeries were performed in 2018–2019.
Clinical course of malignant patients
APBDU, anomalous pancreaticobiliary duct union; ADC, adenocarcinoma; PPPD, pylorus-preserving pancreaticoduodenectomy; HGD, high-grade dysplasia; GBC, gallbladder cancer; EC, extended cholecystectomy; GB, gallbladder; PV, portal vein; CHA, common hepatic artery; CC, choledochal cyst.
Fig. 2Delayed complications are observed in 15 patients (9.8%), cholangitis in 9 patients (60.0%), ileus in 2 patients (13.3%), liver abscess in 2 patients (13.3%), pancreatitis in 1 patient (6.7%), and cyst infection in 1 patient (6.7%). The patients with acute complications are marked with slashes. The complication timing range is 3–159 months, and the median is 30.0 months. One patient developed a new cancer around the distal remnant cyst. The patient had pancreatic head cancer 39 months later.
Clinicopathologic characteristics of patients with or without delayed complications
Values are presented as number (%) or mean ± standard deviation.
