Data are presented as n (%) for categorical variables, median (IQR, interquartile range) or mean (SD, standard deviation) for continuous variables.
Differences across the three groups (NGT and two GDM subtypes) were compared using one-way ANOVA for normally distributed continuous variables, Kruskal–Wallis test for non-normally distributed continuous variables, or Chi-squared test for categorical variables. aWhen P < 0.05, pairwise comparisons between the NGT group and each GDM group were made using the Tukey’s test, Dunn’s test, or Chi-squared test, respectively. P values for pairwise comparisons were adjusted using the Bonferroni correction.

Figure 4Hypothesis on the role of FGF21 signaling in the visceral white adipose tissue (vWAT). The improved insulin sensitivity in women of the GDM-resistance group may be associated with the increased plasma FGF21 level and activated FGF21 signaling in vWAT.
