Dear Editor, we would like to share ideas on “COVID-19 Related Anxiety in Men With Localized Prostate Cancer at Tertiary Hospitals in Cape Town, South Africa.” Irusen et al. concluded that “COVID-19 did not induce significant anxiety in men being ….” Without control group, it might be difficult to conclude that COVID-19 did or did not induce anxiety. ” In a previous study, it was found that the anxiety in person with prostate cancer is associated with postponed therapeutic operation. The subgroup analysis focusing on this factor is interesting. Additionally, there might be some mistakes in this report. Irusen et al. noted that “This study was conducted between July and September 2020” and also noted that “There was a significant decrease in STAI-S scores pre-pandemic to the pandemic phase.” The study period is already the COVID outbreak period; therefore, the comparison with pre-pandemic seems not reasonable. Indeed, the study tool “Corona Virus Anxiety Scale” is evidence that the work is performed after COVID-19 problem exists. Actually, it seems that there is no comparison with pre-COVID 19 and this is a big mistake in the present report.
