Abstract
There is an increasing body of evidence for occupational and art therapies for treatment of severe mental illness in old age, such as geriatric depression, dementia and delirium. The individualized intervention strategies activate the patients' skills and activities in various ways and enhance psychological processes such as awareness of thoughts and activities, experiences and feelings of self-determination and autonomy. They may also encourage the patients' willingness to participate in multimodal treatment and to agree to pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy.Entities:
