Abstract
Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a systemic inflammatory disease that can affect any organ of the human body and cause significant damage. As compared to patients with adult-onset SLE, children and young people (juvenile SLE) more frequently experience extensive diffuse organ involvement, more organ damage at diagnoses, and resistance to immunomodulatory treatment. This manuscript emphasizes parallels and differences between the clinical pictures, known pathomechanisms, and available treatment options of juvenile and adult-onset SLE.Entities:
