Abstract
Nerves and muscle interact to perform learned motor behavior such as birdsong. Glycosaminoglycans play a major role in the function of muscle as well as the formation and function of the neuromuscular junction. The alteration of GAG chains provides a unique opportunity to alter muscle behavior and thus motor control of a behavior. This chapter provides a method for observing the effects on mature birdsong of removal of GAG chains within syringeal muscle.Entities:
