The elderly as a unique population: alcoholism.

M A Schuckit, P A Pastor.

Abstract

The clinician who is faced with the task of diagnosing alcoholism in the elderly should be aware of the limitations of the diagnostic criteria for this population and should regard these criteria merely as areas from which to begin a much more detailed inquiry into the role of alcohol in any problems the patient may report.
