Abstract
BACKGROUND: In patients with active Crohn's disease (CD), treatment of intra-abdominal abscess usually comprises antibiotics and radiologically guided percutaneous drainage (PD) preceding surgery. The aim of this study was to investigate the risk of postoperative complications and identify the optimal time interval for surgical intervention after PD.Entities:

Values in parentheses are percentages unless indicated otherwise; For the categorical variables, bivariable analysis, Pearson χ2 and Fisher's exact tests were employed. Quantitative continuous data were compared with the Mann–Whitney U test and ANOVA test for parametric data. Logarithmic transformation was used for variables that were not normally distributed. Multivariable and binary logistic regression were used to investigate outcomes including abscess recurrence, postoperative complications, stoma construction, readmission and duration of postoperative stay at hospital.
