Epithelial connection protein E-cadherin was higher in the control group (p < 0.05); mRNA levels of the pyroptosis proteins caspase-1 (p < 0.01), IL-1β (p < 0.01), and IL-18 (p < 0.05) were higher in the gingivitis group than in the control group (n = 10 per group; ∗p < 0.05; ∗∗p < 0.01).
