Abstract
In this study, 1228 urine samples were collected from different centres in Zimbabwe and were analysed for aflatoxin contamination. The urine samples were extracted with chloroform and analysed by thin layer chromatography and high-performance liquid chromatography. The most commonly observed contaminant was aflatoxin M1, at an average concentration of 4.2 ng/ml of urine. Although the national average of urine samples contaminated was 4.3%, there were areas in which up to 10% of the urine samples were contaminated.Entities:
