Abstract

The anesthetic management of a patient with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) type IV, who suffered a ruptured uterus following delivery at 37 weeks of gestation was described. During laparotomy, massive blood loss occurred and blood was replaced through the catheter introducer sheath in the internal jugular vein. The woman with EDS type IV carries a risk of excessive bleeding during labour.
