Abstract
Because of the high risk of local tumor recurrence radical resection of the complete anatomic compartment containing the tumor is the surgical treatment of choice for soft tissue sarcomas, in cases of high grade sarcomas followed by an adjuvant chemotherapy. If the tumor invades surrounding tissues of the compartment one should perform a limited radical resection followed by an aggressive postoperative radiation therapy and possibly by an adjuvant chemotherapy, too. But amputation is necessary in cases of sarcomas involving major bones, joints or major nerves.Entities:
