Abstract

OBJECTIVE: To explore the effect of individualized exercise prescriptions plus dietary management on blood glucose in the second-and-third trimester of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM).
METHODS: We collected and reviewed the clinical data of 106 patients in their second-and-third trimester who had GDM in our hospital from September 2017 to September 2018. They were equally divided into a test group and a control group with a random number table method. All patients took oral metformin tablets, and the control group received routine clinical care. The test group received individualized exercise prescriptions plus dietary management. Then we compared the intervention effects between the two groups.
RESULTS: After the intervention, the FBG, 2-h PBG, and IR indexes in the test group were considerably lower than those in the control group (P<0.001). After the intervention, both groups had lower HbA1c values than before, and those in the test group were obviously lower than the control group (P<0.001). There was no clear difference in BMI between the two groups before and after intervention (P>0.05). The BMI had clearly increased after intervention in both groups, and the increment in the test group was significantly lower than the control group (all P<0.05). The medication compliance and nursing satisfaction were significantly higher than in the control group (all P<0.05). The self-efficacy and the self-management ability scores in the test group were significantly higher than the control group (P<0.05).
CONCLUSION: In the second-and-third trimester of pregnancy with GDM, individualized exercise prescriptions plus dietary management can effectively control the blood glucose and keep BMI within a healthy range, thus improving the compliance and the clinical satisfaction of maternal care, fulfilling self-management, and reducing the risks of childbirth. It is worth promoting because of its enormous efficacy. AJTR
