Abstract
A chemotactic factor for polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMNs) was found in culture medium of epithelioid cells from rat renal glomeruli. The PMN chemoattractant was trypsin sensitive, heat-stable and eluted from a Sephadex G-50 gel filtration column as a single peak with molecular weight of about 10,000. Lipopolysaccharide stimulated, in a dose-dependent manner, the chemoattractant production by epithelioid cells. This lipopolysaccharide-mediated stimulation was suppressed by an addition of cycloheximide to the culture. These results suggest that component cells of glomeruli itself can attract PMNs by producing a chemotactic factor for PMNs.Entities:
