Abstract
BACKGROUND: Low muscle mass and osteoporosis are commonly observed in individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). We investigated the prevalence of low muscle mass and osteoporosis in patients with T2DM who had high glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) levels.Entities:

Low muscle mass is diagnosed by low appendicular skeletal muscle index (ASMI) which defined as <7.0 Kg/m2 for men and <5.4 Kg/m2 for women. The normal bone mass is defined as T value > −1.0 SD, osteopenia is defined as −1.0 SD > T value > −2.5 SD, and osteoporosis is defined as T value < −2.5 SD.
