Abstract
Background: The significance of late diastolic velocity (a') obtained by tissue Doppler imaging (TDI), which reveals atrial function, in ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) remains unclear. This study evaluated the association of TDI parameters determined either immediately or 2 weeks after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with long-term outcomes. Methods andEntities:

Patients in this study were divided into 3 study groups: Group A patients underwent echocardiography 2 weeks after onset; Group B patients underwent echocardiography 24 h after onset; and, to demonstrate the appropriateness of this study, Group C patients underwent echocardiography 24 h (Group C-1) and 2 weeks (Group C-2) after onset. Patients were followed up for a mean of 81 months.
