[Use of footprints, especially forefoot prints, from the forensic viewpoint].

W Winkelmann1.

Abstract

A new method of measuring the anterior part of the foot and toes is described in relationship to human footprints. The footprint data found at the place of crime were compared with those of a suspect and a control group. Tests using foot outlines should be done in a double-blind manner. If our method is used in addition to known measurements, the probability of identification is increased.
