FIGURE 1Study flow diagram. Multiple initial antibiotics prescribed within 24 hours were defined as ≥ 2 antibiotics ordered within ≤ 24‐hour timeframe of index visit date and time. Missingness includes one patient who didn't have a physician, mid‐level, or other healthcare practitioner type specified and patients that did not have a systolic blood pressure documented. Propensity‐matched case counts represent primary endpoint. Abbreviations: ED, emergency department; UC, urgent care

Percentages rounded and may not reflect a total of 100%.
Continuous variables are compared using a 2‐sample t test; categorical variables, with a chi‐square or Fisher's exact test.
Comorbidities evaluated include bone marrow transplant, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, hemodialysis, immunosuppressed, neoplasms, and solid organ transplant.
Data on temperature were missing for 2.1% of the amoxicillin‐clavulanate patient‐visits and 2.2% of the amoxicillin patient‐visits.

Abbreviations: ADE, adverse drug events; CI, confidence interval; OR, odds ratio.
The outcome rates and unadjusted (univariate) data are reported before propensity matching with complete data (n = 87,715).
The propensity matched sample size for adjusted OR in sinusitis‐related revisits is 17,929 and 42,294 for amoxicillin and amoxicillin‐clavulanate respectively; see eTable S2.
The propensity matched sample size for adjusted ORs in infectious complications is 17,912 and 42,406 for amoxicillin and amoxicillin‐clavulanate respectively; see eTable S4.
Because the CDI incidence rate in the amoxicillin arm is 0%, then it is understood that the true ORs is not equal to 1.
The propensity matched sample size for adjusted odds ratio in gastrointestinal‐related ADEs and hospitalizations is 17,934 and 42,295 for amoxicillin and amoxicillin‐clavulanate respectively; see eTables S5 and S6.
