Abstract
BACKGROUND: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) can lead to significant respiratory failure with between 14% and 18% of hospitalised patients requiring critical care admission. This study describes the impact of socioeconomic deprivation on 30-day survival following critical care admission for COVID-19, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on critical care capacity in Scotland.Entities:

Regression models reporting association between socioeconomic deprivation and 30-day mortality. Multivariable Model 1 did not include comorbidity count, emergency readmissions in previous year or Acute Physiology Score. Note that only the adjusted effect estimate for SIMD on mortality can be interpreted as a causal association, and effect estimates for potential confounders on the outcome cannot be interpreted in the same way. See Table S3 for further explanation. Abbreviations: SIMD, Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation.
