Abstract
The matching of a template to a protein sequence is simplified by treating it as a special case of sequence alignment. Restriction of the distances between motifs in the template controls against spurious matches within very long sequences. The program using this algorithm is fast enough to be used in scanning large databases for sequences matching a complex template.Mesh：
