Transnasal Endoscopic Microdrilling with Steroid Douching for Bony Choanal Atresia: A Novel Approach.

B L Yatish Kumar1, B Vibha2.

Abstract

Unilateral Choanal Atresia is relatively an uncommon condition which goes undiagnosed even during adulthood. Detection of unilateral choanal atresia in adults is based on Clinical and Radiological Study. Pure Bony Atresia treated with Transnasal Endoscopic Microdrilling followed with Steroid Nasal Douching prevents restenosis. Transnasal Endoscopic Microdrilling of bony atretic plate was done using High speed microdrill followed by Postoperative Steroid Nasal Douching. 5 Cases which was having pure bony atresia was operated using Transnasal Endoscopic microdrilling followed by 6 weeks Steroid nasal douching. No restenosis was observed on 6 months follow up. © Association of Otolaryngologists of India 2021.
