Abstract
AIMS: Hypertensive disorders occur in women with peripartum cardiomyopathy (PPCM). How often hypertensive disorders co-exist, and to what extent they impact outcomes, is less clear. We describe differences in phenotype and outcomes in women with PPCM with and without hypertensive disorders during pregnancy. METHODS ANDEntities:

Adverse neonatal outcome is defined as a composite of termination, miscarriage, low birth weight or neonatal death.
BMI, body mass index; DBP, diastolic blood pressure; LVEF, ventricular ejection fraction; PPCM‐HTN, women with peripartum cardiomyopathy and hypertension alone; PPCM‐noHTN, women with peripartum cardiomyopathy without hypertension; PPCM‐PE, women with peripartum cardiomyopathy and pre‐eclampsia; SBP, systolic blood pressure.
Figure 3Forest plot of outcomes according to hypertension group. Plots show the point estimate for the unadjusted risk or likelihood of each outcome according to hypertension group, referent to the group of women without hypertension. Bars show the 95% confidence intervals (CI). The line of unity at 1.0 represents the point at which no difference is evident. PPCM‐HTN, women with peripartum cardiomyopathy and hypertension alone; PPCM‐noHTN, women with peripartum cardiomyopathy without hypertension; PPCM‐PE, women with peripartum cardiomyopathy and pre‐eclampsia.
