Abstract
Bariatric surgery is an effective treatment for achieving significant weight loss and improving metabolic comorbidities such as type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). The aim of our study was to investigate clinical factors related to T2DM remission in obese patients who had undergone bariatric surgery.Entities:

Figure 1Patient-selection procedure and number of patients for each step of the process. A total of 350 patients underwent bariatric surgery between January 2005 and December 2016; only 94 of the patients were diagnosed with diabetes mellitus. Seven patients were excluded because they had not been followed up for two years, and another four due to a T1DM diagnosis. Out of the 83 patients with T2DM included in the study, 45 underwent gastric bypass and 38 had sleeve gastrectomy. DM: diabetes mellitus; T1DM: type 1 diabetes mellitus; T2DM: type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Pre-operative demographics, clinical characteristics, and anthropometric measurements in patients with T2DM who underwent bariatric surgery (n = 83).
