Abstract
Mitochondrial dysfunction contributes to various injuries and diseases. A mechanistic understanding of how dysfunctional mitochondria modulates metabolism is of paramount importance. Three-dimensional (3D) optical cryo-imager is a custom-designed device that can quantify the volumetric bioenergetics of organs in small animal models. The instrument captures the autofluorescence of bioenergetics indices (NADH and FAD) from tissues at cryogenic temperature. The quantified redox ratio (NADH/FAD) is used as an optical indicator of mitochondrial redox state.Entities:
