Abstract
BACKGROUND: Increased surgical technology has led broad acceptance endoscopic thyroidectomy and its application in the treatment of thyroid diseases, including thyroid carcinoma. Although the incidence of complications and mortality of thyroid surgery has been significantly reduced, serious complications still occur from time to time. The purpose of this retrospective study is to identify the factors that influence the complications of endoscopic thyroidectomy.Entities:

Figure 1Incisions made around areolas: a one 10-mm incision for endoscopy, b one 5-mm incision for separating pliers and c one 5-mm incision for Harmonic scalpel.
Figure 2After the neck flap was free, and maintained using low-pressure CO2 insufflation at 5–6 mmHg. Incision of the linea alba cervicalis and dissection of the thyroid were done using the harmonic scalpel. A: thyroid gland, B: Strap muscles.
Figure 3Schematic diagram of operation after endoscopic bilateral total thyroidectomy and bilateral central lymph node dissection.A: trachea, B: RLN, C: parathyroid.
