Abstract
Celiac disease (CD) refers to a chronic bowel disorder related to the disturbance of immune systems and intolerance to gluten. Globally, CD affects about 1.4% of the total population with various gastrointestinal and extraintestinal symptoms1 . While genetical background plays significant roles in the occurrence of CD, emerging evidence from observational studies demonstrate strong associations of CD with other chronic diseases, indicating shared etiology or risk factors.
