Abstract
Our understanding of myofibroblast biology has advanced over the past two decades, and the seemingly antagonistic roles of these cells in both normal tissue repair and fibrotic diseases are better reconciled. An age-related loss of cellular plasticity that results in impaired capacity for de-differentiation and apoptosis susceptibility may predispose individuals to non-resolving and progressive fibrotic disorders involving diverse organ systems.Entities:
