Calcified postinflammatory pseudotumor of the lung: CT features.

R A Kaufman1.

Abstract

A densely calcified, large postinflammatory pseudotumor (plasma cell granuloma) in the lung of an 8-year-old girl is presented. The lesion mimicked a chondroid hamartoma on CT. Review of the literature revealed a small but significant incidence of calcification detected in plasma cell granuloma, despite what is commonly written in textbooks of radiologic diagnosis. Inflammatory pseudotumor in children is as likely as in adults to contain calcification and may be more likely to calcify.
