Abstract
Background: After mandibular distraction osteogenesis (MDO), most infants with Pierre Robin sequence (PRS) require mechanical ventilation to assist their breathing. However, the optimal duration of intubation during early mandibular distraction osteogenesis activation is poorly understood. This retrospective study was carried out to identify perioperative risk factors of prolonged mechanical ventilation in infants undergoing MDO.Entities:

Figure 1Three-dimensional computed tomographic measurements of the mandible.
Figure 2Three-dimensional computed tomographic measurements of the airway volumes (A) and area (B). (A) The palatine pharyngeal airway from the posterior border of the hard palate to the edge of the soft palate and the glossopharyngeal airway from the tip of soft palate to the upper edge of epiglottis. (B) The airway section area at the tip of epiglottis.
