FIGURE 1Conceptual model of work readiness of medical graduates, represented as the overlap between three major contributors; individual confidence, capability, and contextual factors (e.g. education and training environment). Additional contributors include resilience, sense of responsibility and reflexivity (or adaptability) of medical graduates. Depending on the individual these factors can both enhance or subtract from preparedness for work as a doctor. Likewise the education and training environment can have a strong influence on development of individual traits or characteristics considered to be key outcomes for work readiness
