Abstract
Managing a hip fracture in a young adult patient in the setting of polytrauma is a particularly challenging prospect. In the UK between 2018 and 2020, 11,969 patients were recorded in the Trauma Audit and Research Network as a patient with polytrauma. Of these patients, 611 (5.1%) had a hip fracture. In this article, we discuss the initial assessment and management of these patients and common problems that are encountered and how the evidence available can help guide management.Entities:
