Abstract
Tumor- or cancer-associated fibroblasts (TAFs), one of the most abundant stromal cell types in various carcinomas, consist of a heterogeneous cell population. Typically, TAFs are assigned with pro-tumor activities to promote tumor growth and progression. One of the key features of solid tumors is the metabolic reprogramming that induces alterations of bioenergetics and biosynthesis in both tumor cells and TAFs. Therefore, this review emphasizes TAFs lipid metabolism related to both TAFs differentiation process and TAFs crosstalk with cancer cells. We hope that this review will help understand lipid metabolism in tumor microenvironment, and support the rational design of metabolism-based approaches to improve the efficacy of cancer therapy.Entities:
