The Ripple Effect of a Pandemic on the Parent-Infant Dyad.

Barbara A Reyna.

Abstract

During the 2009 H1N1 pandemic, containment strategies aimed at limiting the spread of the virus were implemented but not to the extent as the current COVID-19 pandemic. Research is ongoing regarding disease symptomatology, transmission, and treatment for COVID-19. There are limited data regarding the effects of social distancing practices and restrictive hospital-visitation policies on the parent-infant dyad. The purpose of this commentary is to explore the implications of isolation practices on the parent-infant dyad during a pandemic. © Copyright 2021 Springer Publishing Company, LLC.
