Biofeedback: a guide to the clinical literature.

Lilian R Winer1.

Abstract

Biofeedback is defined and its historical development briefly described. Major literature reviews and comprehensive bibliographical resources are noted, and the literature is surveyed in regard to clinical applications, related relaxation techniques, and issues such as placebo effect, regression to the mean effect, differences between training for a specific or a generalized response, and the importance of theory in the use of biofeedback.
