Abstract
Dry socket or alveolar osteitis is one of the most common complication following tooth extraction. Patients usually reports of pain, which typically starts on third or fourth postoperative day and responds to simple irrigation and placement of zinc oxide eugenol (ZOE) pack, which provides an obtundent effect. The pack should be loosely kept in the extraction socket and should be changed periodically to allow healing. This report presents a case of retrieval of foreign body, which actually was a ZOE pack from maxillary sinus, 6 months after the patient underwent extraction of upper left maxillary first molar. © BMJ Publishing Group Limited 2020.
