Abstract
BACKGROUND: The increase in aortic diameter is not closely associated with type B aortic dissection (TBAD); morphological risk factors other than aortic diameter may help to better identify patients at risk for TBAD. The thoracic aorta was divided into 4 segments: ascending aorta, aortic arch, proximal descending thoracic aorta, and distal descending thoracic aorta. The arch width (W) was defined as the maximum distance between the outer curvature of the ascending aorta and the descending aorta. The arch height (H) was defined as the vertical distance between the origin of the brachiocephalic artery and the arch vertex. The arch angle (θ) was measured as the angle between the line between the origin of the brachiocephalic artery and the origin of the left subclavian artery and the horizontal line.
