Prevention of medical emergencies during air travel.

H Rodenberg1.

Abstract

The growing number of people who travel by air make it increasingly important for family physicians to be able to advise patients on the medical risks involved. Cardiovascular and pulmonary problems are the most common reasons for excluding air travel. Hypoxia in the cabin may be dangerous for patients with unstable angina, severe congestive heart failure and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
