Abstract
BACKGROUND: Medical care facilities in both developed and developing countries around the world continue to invest in hospital information technologies (HITs). Nevertheless, it has been discovered that user acceptance of these technologies is one of the imperative issues during their implementation and management in developing countries such as Ghana.Entities:

Reliability and Validity Testing Results for Each Construct.
| Construct | CA | CR | KMO | AVE | Square AVE |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Performance expectancy | 0.836 | 0.861 | 0.754 | 0.634 | 0.796 |
| Effort expectancy | 0.917 | 0.917 | 0.802 | 0.739 | 0.860 |
| Social influence | 0.765 | 0.815 | 0.745 | 0.545 | 0.738 |
| Facilitating conditions | 0.715 | 0.621 | 0.564 | 0.355 | 0.596 |
| Attitude toward the use of technology | 0.848 | 0.859 | 0.785 | 0.608 | 0.780 |
| Behavioral intention | 0.980 | 0.980 | 0.873 | 0.925 | 0.962 |
Note. AVE = average variance extracted; CR = composite reliability; CA = Cronbach’s alpha; KMO = Kaiser–Meyer–Olkin; SI = social influence; FC = facilitating conditions; BI = behavioral intention.
The Actual and Recommended Values of Fit Indices.
| Fit index | χ2/ | GFI | AGFI | CFI | NFI | IFI | RMSEA | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Recommend value | <3 | >0.90 | >0.80 | >0.90 | >0.90 | >90 | <0.08 | |
| Actual value | 2.7 | 0.91 | 0.86 | 0.98 | 0.98 | 0.98 | 0.06 |
Note. χ2/df is the ratio between Chi-square and degrees of freedom. GFI = goodness-of-fit index; AGFI = adjusted goodness-of-fit index; CFI = comparative fit index; NFI = normed fit index; RMSEA = root mean square error of approximation.
Hypotheses Testing Results.
| Hypotheses | Effects |
| Path coefficients |
| Remarks |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| H1 | PE----> BI | 1.633 | –0.231 | 0.103 | Rejected |
| H2 | EE ----> BI | 0.327 | –0.149 | 0.744 | Rejected |
| H3 | ATUT ----> BI | 5.861 | 0.807 | *** | Supported |
| H4 | SI ----> BI | 3.656 | 0.257 | *** | Supported |
| H5 | FC ----> BI | 2.616 | 0.067 | *** | Supported |
Note. The results of the application of Structural Equation Modeling technique to estimate the path coefficients and test of the model hypotheses. ATUT was the strongest predictive factor that plays a key part in the nurses’ intention to use HIT systems. PE = performance expectancy; BI = behavioral intention; EE = effort expectancy; ATUT = attitude toward the use of technology; SI = social influence; FC = facilitating conditions.
***Significant level is at p < .001.
