Abstract
The mecA gene is commonly used to identify resistance in Staphylococcus aureus, but historically is not used for coagulase-negative staphylococci (CoNS). Analysis of 412 staphylococcal blood cultures (2014-2018) revealed that the absence of mecA had high concordance (100%) with oxacillin susceptibility for S. aureus and CoNS alike.Entities:
