Effect of tetracycline upon transfer of an R plasmid from calves to human beings.

D C Hirsh, N Wiger.

Abstract

Fecal specimens from human subjects in daily contact with calves shedding Escherichia coli containing an R plasmid were analyzed for the presence of E coli and the plasmid. A low level of crossover was found to occur unrelated to whether or not the calves were receiving tetracycline.
