Abstract
Legg Calvé Perthes disease (LCPD) is a developmental abnormality that usually affects young small breed dogs. Although the etiology is still uncertain, the pathogenesis is very similar to that described in humans. Diagnosis with physical examination and medical imaging is relatively easy. Treatments offered in dogs, mainly surgical, are also presented. Legg Calvé Perthes disease has many similarities between children and puppies. Dog is therefore an interesting spontaneous model of aseptic osteonecrosis.Entities:
